The United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA) was the first U.S. nonprofit learning association to support distance learning research, development, and practice in all areas of education, training, and communications. Its founding in 1987 marked an important milestone for leaders in distance education. Around the same time, Mizzou Academy was in the early stages of transitioning to online courses and later into an accredited, diploma-granting K-12 school. Mizzou Academy Announces New Scholarship Opportunities for High School Students

Mizzou Academy has established two needs-based scholarship opportunities to expand access to online coursework for high school students in the United States. “This week, we are thrilled to announce a new scholarship program!” said Executive Director Kathryn Fishman-Weaver. “This needs-based program directly aligns with our core values of access and inclusion.”   Alicia Bixby, school counselor adds, “It makes me happy to know that when our program is the best fit for a student, they will have the opportunity to use our program regardless of their financial situation.” Rural Missouri Scholarship  The first scholarship opportunity seeks to expand access to online…

Mizzou Academy Serves with the Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri

The Mizzou Academy team recently packed over 1,000 lbs of rice at the Food Bank. Mizzou Academy Serves Several years ago, our Executive Director, Dr. Kathryn Fishman-Weaver started Mizzou Academy Serves. “We teach young people that they are never too young to make a difference and that no act of kindness, generosity, or service is ever wasted,” says Fishman-Weaver. “These small intentional acts are essential steps in improving global development and long-term outcomes. University of Missouri High School Celebrates 550 Graduates in Historic Ceremony

On June 8, 2024, Mizzou Academy held their 25th on-site graduation ceremony at the historic Missouri Theatre. Gayeon Lee traveled over 6,000 miles from South Korea to attend her high school graduation ceremony. As a Mizzou Academy student, Lee has completed her coursework online through the University of Missouri High School. During her studies, she received the Global Challenger Scholarship for academic excellence.
